Information is the most valuable commodity of our times and technological advances are opening important new fields. Today the information specialist plays a key role not only in libraries, but also in areas related to the domains of government, business, education, and media. The growth of global information networks adds an exciting international dimension to career prospects for graduates with library and information handling skills. Graduates of the program are prepared for careers in library administration, reference, technical services, library automation, collection development, jobs related to the design of information systems and utilities at various types of libraries and information centers. A master's degree in Library and Information Science Program (LISP) was started in the Fall of 1996 at Kuwait University, under the umbrella of the College of Graduate Studies, the Library and Information Science Program (LISP) offers a master's degree according to the latest academic and professional standards pursued worldwide. In the Fall of 2001 LISP was transferred to the college of the Social Sciences and was awarded the title the "Department of Library and Information Science" (DLIS). A minor in Information Studies will be offered for the Social Science Students Starting Fall of 2002. |

Yesterday all servers in the U.S. went out on strike in a bid to get more RAM and better CPUs. A spokes person said that the need for better RAM was due to some fool increasing the front-side bus speed. In future, busses will be told to slow down in residential motherboards. |
